Inauguration of High Impact Community Development Projects in Rupandehi, Nepal

 Campus building of Shree Rammani Multiple Campus and School building of Shree Naharpur Secondary School, Rupandehi, built with Government of India’s financial assistance of NRs. 50.80 million under ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’ were formally inaugurated today by Shri Naveen Srivastava, H.E. Ambassador of India to Nepal, jointly with Mr. Bishnu Prasad Paudel, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, House of Representatives, Constituency No.2, Rupandehi for School building of Shree Naharpur Secondary School and with Mr. Umakant Chapaee, Chief, District Coordination Committee and Mr. Ramkrishna Khand, Mayor, Tilottama Municipality, Rupandehi for Campus building of Shree Rammani Multiple Campus.     Public representatives, government officials, social workers, representatives of the Campus and School management, lecturers, teachers, parents and students were also present on this occasion. 

2. The Government of India grant under ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’ was utilized for the construction of triple storied campus building and furniture for Rammani Multiple Campus and double storied school buildings and other infrastructures for Shree Naharpur Secondary School.  These projects were implemented through the  District Coordination Committee and Butwal Sub-Metopolitan City, Rupandehi respectively. The projects were taken up as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP), earlier known as Small Development Projects, under an agreement between the Government of India and the Government of Nepal.

3. Shri Naveen Srivastava, H.E. Ambassador of India to Nepal has highlighted that the projects are an important example of the very robust development partnership between India and Nepal, which has made significant progress  in the recent years, spanning various priority sectors of the Government of Nepal and its people. He expressed continued commitment of the Government of India to continue to bolster the development partnership as per the priorities of Government of Nepal, for the benefit of the peoples of both countries. 

4. Shree Rammani Multiple Campus was established in 1988 with the affiliation of Tribhuvan University and it is public community campus named of the famous national Educationist & Linguist Rammani Aa.Di. Currently, two different streams Humanities and Management are running in Master Degree Level and other  streams namely Management, Education & Humanities are running in Bachelor Degree and streams for Higher Secondary Board. The total number of students of the Campus are over 2600, about 70% of whom are girls.  

5. Shree Naharpur Secondary School was established in 1971 as primary school, subsequently upgraded to Secondary Level School in 1996 and higher Secondary School. The school affiliated with National Examination Board, is providing education in the field of Education and Management at +2 levels. The school has over 1350 students, about 60% of whom are girls. Since then, these campus and school has achieved remarkable success in providing quality education with improved environment. 

6. Since 2003, Government of India has taken up over 550 HICDPs in Nepal in various sectors and has completed 488 projects. Amongst these, 61 Projects are in Lumbini Province in various sectors, which includes 12 projects in Rupandehi. In addition to these, Government of India has gifted 974 ambulances and 234 school buses to various hospitals, health posts and educational institutions in Nepal on the occasion of Independence Day and Republic Day of India. Amongst these, 160 Ambulances and 35 School Buses have been gifted in Lumbini Province, which includes 29 ambulances and 14 school buses provided in Rupandehi District. 

7. As close neighbours, India and Nepal share wide-ranging and multi-sectoral cooperation. The implementation of HICDPs reflects the continued support of the Government of India in bolstering the efforts of the Government of Nepal in upliftment of its people, augmenting infrastructure in the field of priority sector especially in the education sector in Nepal.
