Inauguration of Shreepur Water Supply and Sanitation Project in Udayapur, Koshi Province, Nepal

     The Shreepur Water Supply and Sanitation Project in Ward No.-5 of Triyuga Municipality in Udayapur District, Koshi Province, Nepal, built with Government of India’s financial assistance was jointly inaugurated today by Mr. Narayan Singh, First Secretary, Embassy of India, Kathmandu, and Mr. Basant Kumar Basnet, Mayor, Triyuga Municipality.

2. The construction of the Shreepur Water Supply and Sanitation facilities was undertaken as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP). The project was implemented through the Triyuga Municipality, Udayapur.

3. Mayor, Triyuga Municipality, Udayapur, and other stakeholders appreciated the development support being provided by the Government of India. They conveyed that the new water supply & sanitation facilities would help improve the quality of life of the local community in the region.

4. Since the inception of the HICDP programme,  605 projects have been undertaken by the Government of India, covering all 7 provinces of Nepal and spanning 74 districts across various sectors. Of these, 103 projects are located in Koshi Province, including 12 projects in Udayapur District. In addition, Government of India has gifted 150 ambulances and 62 school buses to various institutions working in the health and education sectors of Koshi Province, including 13 ambulances and 3 school buses in the Udayapur district.

5. As close neighbours, India and Nepal are engaged in wide-ranging and multi-sectoral cooperation. The implementation of HICDPs reflects the continued support of the Government of India in strengthening the efforts of the Government of Nepal in promoting growth and development, apart from augmenting infrastructure in priority sectors.
