Foundation Stone Laid for Construction of Buildings at Janak Secondary School, Kavrepalanchowk

     The foundation stone for the construction of new school buildings at Shree Janak Secondary School, Namobuddha Municipality–4, Kavrepalanchowk, was jointly laid by Mr. Narayan Singh, First Secretary, Embassy of India, Kathmandu; Mr. Kunsang Lama, Mayor of Namobuddha Municipality; and Mr. Laxmi Prasad Bhattarai, Project Director, Central Level Project Implementation Unit, Ministry of Education and Sports, Government of Nepal. Officials from the Government of Nepal, teachers, students, media representatives and other local stakeholders also attended the ceremony.

2.     The project, estimated to cost approximately NRs. 6.35 crore, is being implemented through Government of India’s post-earthquake reconstruction grant assistance. The new infrastructure will comprise two blocks having 18 classrooms, science laboratories, a library, and administrative offices.

3.    Mr. Laxmi Prasad Bhattarai, Project Director, CLPIU expressed gratitude to the Government of India for its continued support in the reconstruction of schools across Nepal.

4.   Mr. Kunsang Lama, Mayor appreciated the Government of India’s developmental assistance and expressed confidence that the new infrastructure would significantly enhance the learning environment for students and educators in the municipality.

5.    Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Narayan Singh, First Secretary, Embassy of India, stated that the foundation stone laying ceremony reflected the strong and enduring development partnership between India and Nepal. 

6.   Under its post-earthquake reconstruction assistance programme, the Government of India has supported the reconstruction of 85 educational institutions, 133 health facilities, 30 cultural heritage sites, and 50,000 private houses across Nepal.
