Celebration of the 77th Republic Day

The 77th Republic Day of India was celebrated at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu on 26 January 2026 with the participation of Indian community and friends of India in Nepal. 

2.     The event commenced with the hoisting of the national flag by the Charge d’affaires a.i. Dr. Rakesh Pandey. Subsequently, a video of the address to the nation on the eve of the 77th Republic Day by the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, was played .

3.     On the occasion, Charge d’affaires honoured the widows and next of kin of the deceased personnel of the Indian Armed Forces, and handed over AGIF (Army Group Insurance Funds) cheques with a total value of NPR 7.2 crores. 

4.    A video encapsulating the significant progress in India–Nepal relations in the past year was screened at the event. This occasion also witnessed vibrant dance and musical performances presented by the students and teachers from the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center of the Embassy, along with Nepali artists.

5.    The celebrations of the 77th Republic Day of India in Kathmandu witnessed enthusiastic participation by members of the Indian community, friends of India in Nepal, as well as Embassy officials and their families.
