‘Festival of India in Nepal’ from 19 February 2019 to 22 March 2019

Festival of India is being celebrated in Nepal

 

The Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Embassy of India, Kathmandu with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India is celebrating ‘Festival of India in Nepal’ from 19 February to 22 March 2019 to rejoice the existing age-old multifaceted relations between India and Nepal.

 

2.     A Contemporary Dance performance by Sumit Roy group from India at Nepal Army Auditorium, Sundhara on 19 February 2019 will kick-start the Festival of India in Nepal. The Group will then perform at Birgunj and Janakpur on 20 February and 22 February, respectively. The month long Festival will also feature other events like (i) Mridangam instrumental performance by Pandit Yella Venkateshwara; (ii) Punjabi Folk Dance by Harinder Pal and group; (iii) Theatre Art by Su-Samannaya Group (iv) Kathakali Dance by Dr. Haripriya and group, (v) Maithali Sons and Dances by Prangan Group, (vi) Exhibition on Gandhiji, (vii) Speech Competition on Gandhiji, and (viii) Seminar on Sanskrit.

 

3.     India and Nepal share unique bonds of friendship characterized by deep rooted people-to-people contacts. Since millennia, people of both India and Nepal have nurtured common heritage of art, music and cinema, evolving shared culture. These cultural bonds have built solid bridges of friendship and understanding among the people of our two nations.

 

4.     The Festival of India in Nepal aimed to consolidate and strengthen our existing age-old relations, reinforcing sensibilities, affinities and shared cultural bonds between the people of our two countries. The Festival will further contribute towards sustaining and enhancing mutual understanding between India and Nepal.
