COVID-19 – IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Under the prevailing circumstances, all Indian Nationals are kindly advised to keep themselves aware of various restrictions imposed by Government of Nepal and Government of India as safety/precautionary measures to ensure public safety and to contain the spread of COVID-19. These restrictions are temporary and subject to review. Please keep yourself updated with the latest travel advisories issued by the Bureau of Immigration (https://boi.gov.in/) and Department of Immigration, Government of Nepal (http://www.nepalimmigration.gov.np/). 

All Indian Nationals are requested to adhere to laid down norms/guidelines issued through advisories/notification by the local government and take due precaution ensuring your own safety and safety of the larger community.

RESTRICTIONS IMPOSED BY GOVERNMENT OF NEPAL:

  1. Complete nationwide 'lockdown' extended till May 18, 2020.
  2. Restriction on international and domestic flights extended till May 31, 2020. 
  3. Borders to remain closed till May 31, 2020. 

TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS IN INDIA

  1. ‘Complete lockdown’ of the entire nation extended till May 17, 2020. 
  2. Movement restricted through all immigration points ("All incoming passenger traffic, on all 107 Immigration Check Posts which includes all Airport ICPs, all Seaport ICPs all Land Port ICPs, all Rail Port ICPs and all River Port ICPs, is prohibited, in the view of the spread of COVID-19"). 
  3. As per latest notification from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, “all scheduled international commercial passenger services shall remain closed till 2359 hours IST of May 17, 2020”.

INDIAN STUDENTS IN NEPAL

  1. In the given circumstances with stringent restrictions being implemented on movement, both in India and Nepal, it is strongly advised that Indian students in various universities/institutions in Nepal may adhere to the instructions issued by the Government of Nepal. They may follow the laid down precautionary norms issued by the Government from time to time and restrict any non-essential movement.
  2. Please stay in touch with officials/coordinators in your respective institutions.
  3. The Embassy of India is in touch with relevant officials at various universities to ensure the welfare of Indian students.
  4. Maintain your accommodation till the restrictions are being implemented.

NOTE PLEASE: Travel restrictions continue to regularly be amended to ensure safety of all citizens. Please keep yourself updated with the BOI website (https://boi.gov.in/) and Nepal Department of Immigration website (http://www.nepalimmigration.gov.np/) for the latest travel advisories. All advisories recommend avoiding non-essential travel.
