BRIEF

1. Pension Paying Office (PPO), Pokhara, the largest of its kind in Nepal (probably in the world) is located in Kaski District of Western Development Region of Nepal. Started as a Seasonal Pension Paying Camp (SPPC) in 1955, it was established as a permanent PPO on 01 October 1960. The primary function of PPO, Pokhara is to disburse pension and other post retirement monetary entitlements to Indian Army (IA), Assam Rifles (AR), Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and other Central and State Government pensioners.

2. The PPO has a multi-faceted character. It assists the Welfare Branch in distributing various Indian Army welfare grants as also managing the Nepal Bharat Maitri Vidyalaya at Pokhara. The PPO assists the Record Office at Kathmandu by initiating cases relating to non-effective documentation, endorsement of family pension, various types of AGIF/ PLI claims, paying Final Settlement of Account (FSA) dues, AGIF benefits, family allotments and maintenance grants and investigating family pension claims. The PPO campus also houses an MI Room and the ECHS Polyclinic.

3. Apart from the above, Seasonal Camp are conducted in the remote districts of West Nepal namely Syangja, Gorkha, Tanahun, Lamjung, Palpa and Baglung to collect Life Certificates and provide similar essential services to the pensioners, closer to their homes.
